To Request a Letter of Recommendation From Me
Before I can write a letter of
recommendation for you, I will need some information. This information
will help me to complete your letter on time and to make it specific and
stronger.
Please email the following information to
me (brafoth@iup.edu):
- Your name
- Your postal address
- Your email address
- Date letter of recommendation is due
- To whom I should send the letter (name,
title, address). Otherwise, I will address it "To Whom It May
Concern."
- Description of the position you are applying for
- Any courses you have taken from me,
including date and grade received. Please include a brief description
of any major paper or project you did in my class -- something I might refer
to in the letter
- Your current status -- year in school
and current job. If you graduated from IUP, give date.
- If you are a graduate student or
alumnus and have
completed your thesis, dissertation proposal, or dissertation, the title and brief
description of your dissertation. Please include completion date of
comprehensive exams and the three areas you took the exams in.
- Employment in the Writing Center
(dates). Please include any workshops you taught or any projects you
did while you were a tutor in the Writing Center (e.g., revising or updating
a workshop, creating a handout, etc.)
- Any other accomplishments I might
mention in the letter (publications, presentations, study abroad, etc.)
